Western MD county approves data center moratorium
Washington County commissioners voted 4-1 to approve a yearlong moratorium on data center applications after hearing residents' concerns at a public hearing. The pause gives county staff time to study data centers' suitability, with particular concern about water usage, noise, infrastructure strain and zoning compatibility in the rural county. Commissioner Neil Parrott cast the lone dissenting vote.
