US Senate rejects bill targeting AI data centre electricity costs

The Ratepayer Protection Act, which would stop households and small businesses carrying the cost of grid work for large data centers, failed a procedural vote 57-43, three short of the 60 needed. The House had passed it 417-3 earlier in the month.
