New York State Legislature passes bill to put a one-year moratorium on data centers
New York lawmakers approved the Responsible Data Center Development Act, creating a one-year pause on permits for large data centers with peak demand over 20 megawatts and requiring operators to hold public hearings and meet renewable-energy standards. If signed by Governor Kathy Hochul, New York would become the first state in the nation to enact a statewide data center moratorium.
