Connecticut Adopts AI Transparency, Safety, and Consumer Protection Law

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont signed SB 5 on May 27, 2026, enacting a 39-section omnibus AI law covering companion chatbots, automated employment decision tools, synthetic content provenance, and frontier AI whistleblower protections. Provisions phase in from October 2026 through January 2028, including chatbot safeguards for minors and amendments to state employment discrimination law.
